Our mission – to enable as many orphans as possible to reach their full potential.
A small group of individuals with close connections to Zambia came together to form Zambia Orphans of AIDS UK in 2006 (registered charity number 1116460). The charity’s formal launch took place in London in June 2007 and the Trustees started raising funds for disbursement to projects in Zambia, which have been identified and appraised by our Zambian Board of Trustees. ZOA-UK intentionally works with small NGOs which would ordinarily find it very difficult to secure external funding. Many are based in rural locations and all rely upon the work of volunteers from within their own communities. ZOA-UK funds the likes of school fees, uniforms, books, stationery and feeding programs for the very young alongside income generating projects which provide additional resources for local community support. Within three years of its launch ZOA-UK has disbursed over £150,000 to 20 different projects and currently supports over 1,200 orphans and vulnerable children across Zambia.

The Friends of ZOA UK
ZOA UK has a growing membership of Friends who may be from the Zambian community in the UK, British citizens who may have lived or worked in Zambia or others who have a particular commitment to supporting orphans in Africa. Friends commit themselves to a regular monthly or annual donation. This regular income stream is becoming particularly important to us as it will enable longer term commitments to be made to the children who we support.
